My favorite way getting around Sydney was definitely the ferry. They’re quick, they’re smooth and the views are amazing. The buses from Bondi to Sydney CBD are also good but not as good as the ferry. The ferry system is part of the same public transport system as the buses and trains, so you can use the opal card to tap on and off with ease. If I lived in Sydney and had to commute for work I’d live near a ferry. We were staying in North Bondi so to get to Sydney CBD, we took the ferry out of Rose bay. It was only a 20 minute ride depending on the number of stops along the way. Some take longer if they stop at a few more ports but I didn’t mind hanging out on the boat. You get a really nice view of the harbor as you pull into the main terminal with the famed Opera House on your left and the bridge on your right. Its also stunning on a clear night with the twinkling stars and buildings. Did I mention that they’re ridiculously smooth? Well they are. As much as I like hitting some good choppy waves, you couldn’t feel a thing. Staten Island Ferry, you’ve been put on notice.

A nice welcome view to Sydney

The ferry swings right in front of the Opera house.

The opera house all lit up at night.

A storm rolling in over the city. Time to go below decks!
