Custom Travel Maps using Google My Maps
Google My Maps are great for creating custom maps for travels. It’s a very powerful tool to make all kinds of highly customized maps for almost anything. They’re perfect for making travel maps of all the places you want to visit.
Instructions
It’s really easy to open a map on your phone.
First, you have to open a shared map while signed into Google. This will save the map to your Google Drive. This is important because this is how you will access the map on your phone.
To get the map on your phone:
- Open the Google Maps App.
- Open the top left “Hamburger” menu
- Select “Your Places”
- Select “Maps”
- Select the saved map you want to view
You should see a list of any maps you’ve saved here. - Use your map to view pins and read about the descriptions. Some maps have tables of information and a map legend to explain the pins.
Note: After you close the app, you might have to reload the map by repeating the above steps.
Get More Maps
We’ve made a ton of maps for all of the places we’ve visited. You can add them to your device by clicking on the map and adding it to your Google Account.
